Diabolical... what?! Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was developed and researched at the University of Washington as a treatment approach for individuals who struggle to regulate emotions. It was first used with adults with suicidal and self-injurious behavior, and now it has been adapted for adolescents and even children.
At this time, I do not provide Full Scope DBT, and I am NOT a certified DBT clinician. I draw on the principles of DBT as I relate to you and understand your problem. The most important aspects of DBT for my work are:
Finding a synthesis of acceptance (what is your current reality) and change (what is your desired reality),
Staying open to multiple truths.
As Dr. Esme Shaller points out in the video below, DBT is not a suicide prevention program, and it is not a way to stop people from doing behavior that bothers others.
