I offer potential clients a 15 minute meet and greet free of charge. This is an opportunity to:
Give a general description of why you are seeking treatment,
Learn more about my approach to treatment,
Ask any questions about billing and schedule availability.
Occasionally, either you or I or both of us might determine that my services will not fit what you seek. I will do my best to offer an appropriate referral in this case. Go to the New Client Inquiry page to fill out an inquiry form.
The inital evaluation, or intake, usually lasts between 90 and 110 minutes. My fee for this intake is $300. During the intake, I will:
Meet with all people involved in the identified client's care,
Focus on the reasons for seeking treatment and goals,
Ask questions about the problem and the solutions you have tried,
Ask questions about developmental history and significant events,
Give a brief conceptualization and my thoughts on the most effective treatment approach.
The assessment process often takes time, and the treatment approach may change depending on things that inevitably come to light over the course of treatment. I view assessment as an ongoing process, and I hope that you will give me feedback on what is working or not working for you.
In Washington State, the age of consent for outpatient behavioral health treatment is 13 and older. If you are 13-17 and seeking outpatient mental health treatment for yourself, you do not need an authorized adult's consent. Most of the evidence-based practice I provide has a family component, thus I strongly encourage the inclusion of family members in treatment.
After the intake, you can schedule a standard session with me through the online portal. My fee for this session is $200. During the evaluation and assessment period, we will discuss the appropriate frequency of these meetings. I usually recommend starting with a weekly session.
If you are seeking treatment for your child, it is sometimes the case that parent training sessions will be the most effective (both outcome- and cost-wise) in the long term. My fee for the standard psychotherapy session is the same if you attend the session as a parent without your child present.
I am an out-of-network provider. I do not take insurance.
I provide "Super Bills" on a monthly basis for clients and families to submit to their insurance provider. Depending on your insurance plan, they might issue you a partial reimbursement of my fee. I recommend you consult your insurance provider to find out what they cover. Consider asking these questions:
Does my plan cover “outpatient mental or behavioral health”?
Does my plan require pre-approval or a referral from my primary care physician?
What percentage of the psychotherapy fees are covered?
What coverage is offered for out-of-network providers?
I reserve a percentage of my caseload at a reduced fee based on a percentage of my standard fee. You may inquire about the availability of these spaces. I cannot guarantee that a space will be available at the time you inquire.
